Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza

There’s a new sheriff in town!  And boy has he come with his guns a BLAZing!  When my friend Katie mentioned that a new pizza place was coming to Frisco and they would be giving away free pizza to anyone who follows them on social media I was all in.  It was a Friday evening when I loaded up the twins and headed on over to Blaze Pizza at the Center at Preston Ridge, the first Texas location.  Initially deterred by the long line that had come out of the new restaurant and wrapped itself around the front and side of the building, I circled the lot before stopping to ask a patron how long was the wait.  I contemplated whether I should join the 35 minute wait because if you know 4 year olds they are no good at waiting.  And two 4 year olds waiting? Now that’s just asking for it!

    Ingredients Line

A moment later with the truck parked we were in line with our hands stamped for free pizza.  Excitement was in the air and so was the aroma of deliciousness.  To help pass the time there was a talented band offering alluring tunes and games being played for opportunities to win free items off the menu.  The boys were distracted by this along with balloons and samples of lemonade that were being handed out.  Sometime into our wait we saw our friend Katie and her daughter Cora.  They joined us in line. Eventually we made our way into the restaurant…only about an hour and a half later…but we were just minutes away from our turn to order.  By now my friend Shuronda has joined us on our pizza journey.

2015-05-22 21.04.25 (2)The concept is similar to that of Chipotle where diners pick their own toppings from an array of premium ingredients building their own pizza from scratch or choosing one of the signature pizzas off the menu.  All pizzas are 11 inches and fast fired in a hot oven for about 3 minutes.  To my surprise each of us, including the twins, received our own free individual pizza.  So what was the verdict? It was worth every minute we waited!  The freshness of each ingredient held its own and I was in pizza heaven.  The boys each ate over half of their pizzas and the blood orange lemonade was absolutely refreshing.

If there is a Blaze Pizza coming your way or already in your area, I highly recommend you give it a try.  You 2015-05-22 21.04.15 (2)will be back as I have along with my husband and kids.  My favorite: ½ Red Vine and ½ Green Stripe.  The Red Vine has ovalini mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, parmesan, basil, red sauce and olive oil drizzle to which I add Italian sausage and the Green Stripe comes with pesto drizzled grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, chopped garlic, mozzarella and arugula.  I must admit, this is all I have tried so far.  But I did take a bite of my son’s pepperoni and it was tastier than any pepperoni pizza I’ve had…simple yet delicious.
